duh! There are comletely different oil specs in Europe. So, yes, the oil there will not be the same.
If you are indeed getting make in Europe oil, it could be good stuff. It would be nice to know what Saab lists for oil for current production for their vehicles running in Europe.
Most 10W30's will not meet high temperature viscocity requirements for European vehicles. These vehicles, when sold in the US and Canada, are marketed by third parties. And they have to spec an oil which is locally available and they have to suffer the burden of warranty problems. They also have to satisfy US mpg 'cafe' standards and an easy way to get better points is to spec an energy conserving oil, which, guess what, is not the oil which will provide the best engine protection. There are some 0W20 and 5W20 oils being spec'd for some new vehicles, to get better mpg numbers. What a fraud that is.
And on a mature engine, a xxW40 oil can sometimes provide better mpg's than a xxW30 oil. So the higher viscosity = lower mpg's rule is not a fundamental truth. You have to try these things for yourself and see.
