I'm not Jouko, but I'll jump in quick ( :
I see what you're saying about how close that pipe is to the downpipe and how hot it could get. I bet you wouldn't want to get your hand even close to that pipe after a hard (lots of boost) drive.
But... it doesn't matter how hot it gets. Because that pipe (the outlet pipe) is before the intercooler, which cools the air down and makes it denser. Plus, there is really no way of running from that heat. The turbo outlet pipe will usually always be hotter in an intercooled setup. So as long as the pipe that's leading into the throttle body (the one after the intercooler) isn't burning your skin off, all is OK. ( :
Whenever I get off my lazy behind and install my 91+ 9000 front mount intercooler, I plan on using the same type of bends Jouko used, with bending the outlet pipe over and then pointing it down, blah blah. Should be fun! ( :
