... between a smooth track with runoffs and public roads, more to the point real roads with bumps and potholes, strange cambers and wildly varying grip coefficients, sometimes on the same seven square metres your car is at a certain moment... The only succesful OE LSD install on a FWD car I know of is the Integra Type-R (but keep in mind it is N/A and has half the torque as well as much smoother/more progressive power curve than a turbocharged one) - just look at the flak the Quaife-equipped Focus RS has gotten for comedy torquesteer and a complete lack of composure on anything but smooth roads (yes, it -is- fantastic on the track, but bordering on the dangerous on B-roads, as rightly reported by Evo) and you'll see that even a 'softer' kind of LSD like the Torsen isn't a universally good idea for a roadgoing FWD car. An acquantance of ours here in the Netherlands has a 383 hp 9-3 with LSD and those that have driven it report it's not fun trying to keep a grip on the steering wheel as it tries to wrench itself free from your hands, everytime you prod the throttle...
