OK, so I replaced the dist cap and rotor, but still no spark from the plugs (I pulled one out and had someone run the starter while I held the plug to ground).
I remeasured the coil resistance at 1.8Ohm. It's a Pertronix Flame Thrower but no indication on the coil if it should be 1.5 or 3.0. No part number either. I tried measuring output voltage from the coil to the dist cap when starting, and only measured ~ 5V. I thought it would be higher. I am getting 12V into the coil from the battery. I couldn't find an external resistor, but did not tear out my dash (I really don't want to do that if I can avoid it).
Is there a good way to test if the coil is shot? Is it possible the resistance of the coil would change if its bad (i.e. could mine have ben 3.0 Ohm but somehow burned inside resulting in a1.8 ohm resistance?
The pertronix ignitor in my dist looks ok, but I can't seem to find a model number. Their website doesn't even list an option for the V4. Here're 2 photos of the ignitor.
