Hi Jonathan,

Yes, guys like Tom Donney really encourage locking out the distributor advance. I haven't done that, as my '64 Bullnose seems to run fine with a stock distributor, although I don't put many miles on it. You've probably seen his video- if not, here's the link.

In my mind, the change you see in timing is not large and could be nothing more than weakened springs or possibly the mechanism "freeing up" over time.

How does the car run now? Better? Worse? No difference?

Sorry, I don't have a definitive answer.
