Front disc brakes dragging after things warm up Posted by NCCaniac [Email] [Profile/Gallery]

After a couple of months not driving my Sonett III due to the brutal heat here in NC, the weather was nice this last weekend so I took it out for a drive to just make sure everything was still in good driving order. I stopped at a gas station near my house to fill up with ethanol free gas and then drove some back roads at various speeds (up to 50mph) for about 12 miles and then started heading back home as it looked like rain might be on the way.
The brakes seemed fine with normal braking in traffic and at stop lights until about 3 miles from home when the pedal got very stiff and the front disc brakes seemed to be dragging. That was confirmed when I got within half a mile of my house and the brakes were really grabbing and when I pulled into the driveway the front wheels were very hot....and the brake lights stayed on until things cooled off and the calipers released.
Searching this forum for similar results it seems a likely cause could be the brake lines collapsing internally. Any other possible causes? Since the problem does not occur when the car is idling in the garage and everything is cool, but shows up after driving for a while and using the brakes, what would be the best way to safely diagnose the issue (without getting stuck somewhere)?
