Thanks for your help, David!

The snow tires came in very handy Friday. We had a heavy snowfall in
New England, and I'm convinced the tires saved my butt. We had to
drive through the snow the whole trip.

My tires don't say 10, they say Hakkapeliitta Q, which I suppose are Q
rated. 99 mph may be safe, but I wonder about wear at that speed.
Well, I don't worry that much, because I did go at 80 mph for a while
on the way back yesterday.

For sure, these don't handle like all seasons in the dry. I couldn't
stand to drive them year round, but I'm glad to have had them this
weekend.

120 mph in a 9000Slow? That sounds good. This engine seems happy at
high speed, it just takes a long time to get there. I tried 100 mph
once or twice, and it felt fine, car wise. But I'm not trained at that
speed, so I don't think it's wise, especially given the fact that
drivers around here don't know how to give a fast driver proper
courtesy, so for me, 80 or 85 is a reasonable maximum. Plus there's
the speeding ticket risk.

An 8-valve non-turbo may be much slower than my 1987 9000Slow, but I
figure they don't really sell cars that slow these days. These days,
Corollas have better pickup than my car. They figured how to make
peppy cars cheaply. So in that perspective, my car is very sluggish.
It's ok. I know how to deal with it, driving submissively and all
that. Overall, I still love the car, so I'll live with it. I plan to
keep it a few more years, with a little luck.

Thanks again.

Tom
