Got to agree w/the above. Test drove a C320 wagon b4 buying the lpt 9-5 wagon. The test drive started auspiciously enough w/a nice demo of the advanced ABS system where the sales guy took his hands off the wheel and came to an unswervingly straight stop w/2 wheels on tarmac and 2 wheels on dirt. Also the usual spiel about the structural integrity of the car and quality of hides etc. At that point he cut us loose and we took the car off for a good hour. What struck me (and it may be a function of my height) was that the Driver's side door post and cross-member was so overly bolstered and hefty as to render peripheral vision almost non-existant. Merging on to the freeway almost gave me a heart attack and the side mirrors were not big enough to alleviate this obvious shortcoming.
So the car that was over engineered for safety fell down in an area that I would consider key. Having watched my wife contort and writhe in her attempts to merge we left w/no regrets. Oh and then there was the small matter of the $40k + price tab:)
