Yes. I mean the trim piece that wraps up toward the main face of the dash. I know realize that piece has to come out. It will give me a chance to clean all the crumbs and stuff from the nooks and crannies around the trim piece. Larry confirms that the wood and carbon-fiber pieces are similar in that the backing is plastic. The earlier cars just had plastic with what looked like brushed nickel.
Others have said that once the Jalousie starts to go it will fail at other locations - might as well spring for a new one and re-inforce the back with "Gorilla Tape". We plan on keeping our Saab as long as you did.
