Thanks for the tips - I think I'll surf over the eEuro and order a new moveable cover (Jalousie) along with bulbs for the lock switch, power outlet, and shift annunciator.
When you say "snip the trunnion right down the middle" I assume you mean cutting it through the side adjacent to the D hole where the shift fits. Yes. I'll used a new razor blade to do this. It's hard to envision some of your tips without actually looking at the hardware.
I have a rubber surround around the shift annunciator. The green plastic strip is below the annunciator plate. There must be an orange piece of plastic that moves with the shift lever.
If I had way to post photos of this when I do it, I would.
