SOrry your mileage is below your expectations. Mine,2002 automatic, started at about 26 when new, and has gradually improved to over 28 average now with about 20K on the car.Highway is about 30-31. These figures are achieved with a very light foot on the loud pedal, and it is possible that differences in gerneral driving style can make your mileage drop as much as you claim. If, in general, you tend to use more boost while acceleratin, sepecially in around town driving, you could get as little as 19-20 MPG with this car. Try filling up,noting your trip meter setting, then doing a long highway drive using a light foot to get up to speed, and try a legal speed on the road. I'd be suprised if you do not get 30 under these conditions. If you have roof racks on your car, take them off first. They will cost you about three MPG at highway speeds.
Good luck
