I have only been driving my 2003 2.3lpt wagon for a few months. My first Saab. My first turbocharged engine. I love it. I don't drive like a nut. I generally can anticipate when I'll need to accelerate, and for me the "turbo lag" is not a problem. I love the power that I get, even with a medium to large passenger & cargo load in the wagon. The fuel efficiency is superb.
Last weekend I was doing some highway driving. I loved to watch the tach and the turbo gauge. 65 mph cruise on flat road: engine perfectly happy at just under 2000 rpms. Up a gentle hill at same speed: the tach doesn't move, just a boost from the turbo.
Gorgeous.
I generally like variety in all things, but when I need to replace our other family car it will be hard to look at anything but a Saab. Ok maybe WRX STi...
