First, thanks for all the discussion. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind here, just trying to undestand whats going on :-)
That being said, I don't understand how you could pressurize the crank case by venting boost through the check valve line when there is an open line ten times its size venting straight to the intake side of the turbo. Pretend that line just goes straight to the air. In a healthy engine with decent rings, would there be enough blow by to pressurize the crank case with a half inch vent hose on top of the valve cover?
I do agree that pointing the flow towards the valve cover is a waste of boost, but I have to argue that at 10 psi, that line couldn't possibly flow enough air to the point that the turbo couldn't over come the loss and force the wastegate to do its job. After all you aren't venting to the outside, you are basically venting right back into turbo intake.
I guess I just have a hard time accepting the fact that we have to worry about pressurizing the crank case. The turbo is pressurizing the manifold and cylinders. Blow by is pressurizing the crank case and a healty engine shouldn't have a lot of that. But because that main vent line dumps right upstream of the turbo, I could see where you could create enough negative pressure that you would want to vent some boost is there to even things out.
