James your advice was very good--and I did see that red one. I will look at that again.

Slyde--that would be remarkably nice if you would do that. How would I arrange that with you if I did like the car (I'll post tomorrow).

We decided to go try it tomorrow. He also said it burns oil--I just spoke with him--and my bf said that may indicate a more serious problem.

James, I did try a 9-5, a 2001 last week. It sure was a different experience--looked so different and isn't that GM anyway? It was slow to gain power but did drive beautifully on the highway. For significant other reasons I won't go into here I did not want it.

I hear you guys about the fact that you are not only enthusiasts but DIY'ers. Here I am, a woman, maybe getting myself into trouble. However I am a writer by profession and a bit of an iconoclast anyway. I would happily spend more $$ on one that was babied (although not huge amounts, ie I couldn't afford some rare commemorative edition hardly driven) it's just that I don't see those nearby and don't have the ability to travel to other states to look.

My problem with "regular" cars I've test driven is that I'm chemically sensitive anyway. They're made of crap materials. Some of them smell like vinyl even when several years old. I can actually get headaches. Other people detail the insides of their cars with Armor-All and it bothers both me and my bf. Their engines don't seem that great. We test drove a subaru outback sport of some kind yesterday--the guy brought it to us--it was a cute car, drove okay and I felt zip about it. He had detailed it so much both my bf and I were reacting to it. The dash and wheel were so shiny you could have slid off them :).
