You'll need to use a dipstick from a 1991 ( but I think you could go back to '89, maybe earlier, I forget --- it's in the EPC. That is the same situation I have with the land speed car -- I had an earlier block, with a 1990 gearbox, and the early dipstick has a different level on the tip. So, the easy fix was to use the later dipstick, and most of the oil leaking problems subsided. I sealed the interface by the book, but now I wish I had buttered it up with 518 like others have. I don't think that the newly manufactured metal seals are made the same way that they activate/seal with heat. There is a coating, but I don't think it "flows" with the engine block heat like the Saab OE ones.
OK, so BBQ that rascal with some dyno pulls as well. Your compression numbers look fine, but that isn't the part of the story you want to see.
You might check compression cold, then warm it up, do the leak down, and then follow up with compression check across the board. Note the ambient temps for the cold check, and then later when you recheck, you'll know if your cold check has really moved that much.
