So tonight I put another 100 miles on it driving around town with the engine good and hot (covered rad a bit). Once the oil got over 90C the smoke once again started billowing. 15 seconds at idle and it starts puffing a little, then I'll take off and poooof! Nothing noticeable when doing some hard pulling.
Pulled it in, removed the plugs and they weren't bad really. They were dark brown/black and not 'sooty' just coloured. Compression looked great 185,185,185,183 and I'm still tracking down my leak down tester. However I gave a peek down the holes and see the top of the piston is moist. It only makes sense that this is oil that I'm seeing.
I need to engineer a way to rule out the turbo (again) some how first, but it looks like the stem seals are not working properly, or perhaps the rings, but not sure if oil would get on the top of the piston instead maybe only the edges if it was rings?
It has used 1.5 quarts of oil now and it has put on 400 miles TOTAL, but I'll keep driving it in the hopes of things improving, but I doubt it. If it doesn't I guess I'll need to get some rope and a spring compressor and change them without removing the head (hopefully)
