exasperated ! I've heard of many people having drawn out struggles with high idle .now I've had my own experience.I believe I have tested adjusted or tricked everything on my 88 SPG that might have anything to do with a high idle . nothing affected it. it would start out cold at a nice smooth 850rpm and then gradually climb to 1000 or 1100 . I did everything I ever heard or thought of to remedy this and nothing changed it. near the end of this long process I cleaned the throttle plate and was finally able to make a change on the idle speed . unfortunately it made it worse now it starts out at about 1200 and rises up to fifteen or sixteen hundred . I could ignore it the way it was before at around a thousand but definitely can't just leave it when it idles at fifteen or sixteen hundred makes me wish I'd never gone through the process now I can't get it to go back to where it was. I loosened and then tightened the throttle plate screws in an attempt to reset the plate as someone suggested . thinsight k had no effect on the idle and it still remains at 1500 or 1600 once warmed up . I feel like I've used up every piece of advice I could find in searches on this board but now I'm posting to see if anyone has any additional insight . this cars idle was always right on spec and that's why I wanted to get it back . now I've made it worse and feel like I've exhausted all possibilities . is it possible to crud around the edge of the throttle plate was helping it to seal and then I opened up gaps by cleaning it ? is it possible I could have warped the plate while cleaning it with a brush I thought I was being fairly careful
