Distortion occurs regardless of CD to Cd-R or MP3 to CD-R.
I'm using Adaptec's Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 in a Windows XP Home computer. I use SoundStream rather than Music Project for making the disks as this seems to work better. I record with Track at Once. With Soundstream, as with Project, MP3s are automatically converted to WAV files. Unfortunately, I cannot vary recording speed with Soundstream (I can with Music Project) although I can vary the bit rate that MP3s are read. I've done a ton of testing - trying new CD-Rs that were burned by freinds, trying different brands of burners & media.
Basically it seems that the player hates 80 min media & will tolerate 74 min to a point.
I'll keep you posted as I try more options.
