What I've found so far... Posted by vtsnaab [Email] (#26) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vtsnaab) on Tue, 15 Aug 2023 14:23:02 In Reply to: Re: Thanks Bernie., Bernie [Profile/Gallery] , Sun, 25 Jun 2023 21:04:54 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Today is among those very few summer days when I could do outside stuff for a while, so...
Side-note:
This Aero came with a botched up clutch & in replacing that, my indie found a bunch of 1/2 baked DIY stuff which was likely done by the kid I bought it from - and having said that=>
I've always thought it likely that he'd messed with the alarm system & what I found today makes that seem 100% likely as I see it.
Now that the module is within reach I had a really close look at the connector for it.
The bunch of wires leading to the connector was globbed up very tightly with layer upon layer of electrical tape.
It was so tight that a thick, gray wire (#1 ??) was pulled 1/2 way out of position, which likely made for an intermittent connection.
After carefully removing all that excessive tape I'm pretty sure I figured out the numbering order and did find wires as Bernie so well described them.
Sadly there is no non-invasive way to jump those as the connector openings are way too tiny for clip leads, though I may be able to fashion jumpers using tiny crimp on lugs later on.
My best guess as I had no DVM in hand, is that the 2 thickest wires (black, gray) are the main power to the module and with the gray being intermittently connected that could have fried its innards, perhaps.
More as this drama unfolds...
