I've owned four or five 99's from a 71 bought with the engine stored in the trunk and no tranny, to a 78 bought new that year. The 99 that was the most fun was the 1971 I bought in 1978 in South Texas. Had to find a transmission in a state that had almost no dealers for a car that no one even knew existed. I had the engine in and out so many times that I could have the engine sitting on the floor of the garage in 45 minutes from the time I opened the hood. That was the most fun 99 to drive I had. The D Jetronic was peppy and the car was just fun! Had a jet black 98 I picked up for $250.00 in the early 90's. Had a cracked head and wiring problems. My son and I re-wired most of it including building a new fuse box with updated fuses. That was the car I learned the most on and that was fun!
