Larry,
Great discussion starter! Sorry to be late to the party, but I was off visiting prospective colleges with my son - just one of those little things to distract from the hobby.
It will not surprise anyone that I love the 99 Turbo in Black! I'm always surprised that either so few were made in black (or they just didn't survive?) as it just looks completely right! Also, there's just no other car that is as much fun to drive, the feeling of control and feel for the road is just unsurpassed.
My first 99 was a 1975 99LE 4-door in a medium-dark brown, I don't recall the name of the color, but it was nice in that it changed color depending on the light. That car actually followed the first 99 in our family (which followed a 95 and a 96) which was a 1976 2-door in Topaz Yellow (while we are talking about colors, that one was "peach sherbet"). In total we have had I think 10 99s in the family, all 1975-1980. I've had 2, 3, and 4 door, so I guess the 5-door is the only one left!
Best,
Gary
