just the same. The primary issue that I think Stephen was tyring to make is that there are way too many people who have been lead to believe that AWD is a must have. That any vehicle with it must be better than any vehicle without it. That this fact makes SUVs desirable as road vehicles. This is indeed just marketing smoke and mirrors.
That isn't to deny that a sophisticated AWD system doesn't have some drymatic strengths. However, when viewed from a real world perspective a lot of qualification is generally required to any such statement. Not that I have any objections to a SAAB equiped with a quattro style system. Having the option would be good.
