Around here, Teslas have definitely gotten enough (sales) traction that valley inhabitants like myself are using them for Tahoe trips now. Last time I got stuck in highway traffic up there I was pretty shocked at how many Model Ss I saw. Not only because it just doesn't strike me as a chains-and-ski-rack type of car, but also because it's 100 miles each way and electric cars lose quite a bit of range in cold weather. I guess ski resorts must be installing chargers. ;) I do the run up to Tahoe multiple times per year and the number of electric cars I see up there keeps increasing. The first time I saw an S on the freeway I was impressed... now that I see them on the road in the snow... wow! I've not been able to reliably pick out D models, so I can't comment on whether they're RWD or AWD.
