Well put... I find some degree of irony in the fact that WS is trying to categorize cars based on (to quote): cost, quality, repair cost, ride, etc. and is discounting potentially the two cars that excel in these very specific attributes. If the criteria is handling, acceleration, cachet, image, or safety there could be other choices, but I think you'd be truly hard-pressed to out cost/quality/maintaince/ride an LS400 - especially when the competition is European. Personally, they're not my cup of tea, but you can't deny the years and years of consistant initial and long-term quality and low cost of operation they offer... Plus, having spent time in Lexus, Jaguar, and Mercedes Benz service departments, I'll take Toyota Corp's offering ANY DAY.
I am curious what "bad experiences" you had with Saab. I'm not here to defend the marque - I've had my fair share of badness - but by the same token I've always believed Saab to offer the best combination of what premium cars have to offer... they really do well at building a nice package of cost/reliability/performance/image... which, I suppose, is why I stick to 'em.
