I think I am going to give it a try with the hole near the oil pan because I think it is easier to put the belt from the bottom.
I don't want to deal with working from the bottom and then from the top removing the engine support.
I am going to post how it went next week.
Also I can't find the crankcase gasket from two of my preferred SAAB stores.
I believe the SAAB part number is 90571925 but I saw on a site that it is the same as GM 12584041.
