I used to use RDS to avoid setting the clock manually. I don't listen to the radio otherwise, and the local station I was using no longer seems to send the RDS. Same thing as you, battery disconnected for charging and then crazy spinning of the knob to get to the correct time. In warmer weather it seems to operate normally, but in winter I just start spinning the knob and when it gets closer I slow down (like a game). In winter sometimes rotating it in the opposite direction works better. 2003 9-3 Arc 2.0T 6 speed with only 37,300 miles, but it is a 22 year old car. Leased on my 40th birthday back in September 2003 (then bought out).
