If you can do a little work yourself, removing and reinstalling the ECU is really a simple job. I removed the ECU on my 2004 9-3 to install the heat shield and it too me no time at all with common tools. It’s right up front under the plastic cover so you don’t even have to do any bending. The esaabparts solution should be plug and play as they say with no programming necessary. The car will just be down a couple of days while you send your old ECU to them and await the replacement. If you do the work, make certain to disconnect the battery first. Good luck.
