I forgot to mention to check the ground wire on the ECU. I have heard of cases where the car stopped running and providing a new ground wire solved the problem. You can check the resistance to ground from the ECU ground terminal to the battery negative with an ohm meter. Where the ECU is located, no only does it suffer from heat, but the ground connection can also corrode. When you install one of those aftermarket heat shield kits it also comes with a new, longer ground wire.
