Have you understood the difference between T5 and T7? Posted by Karl [Email] (#161) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Karl) on Wed, 29 Nov 2000 11:07:50 In Reply to: Re: Absolutely true, wik, Tue, 28 Nov 2000 12:56:19 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Saying that an A6 2,7T performs equally well at altitude makes me wonder if you've understood the difference between the T5 and T7 management systems. You can search the 9-3 BB and the Performance BB for some of my posts on the subject.
Essentially the difference is that a T5 has a preset boost curve in the software and engine output depends on ambient temp, octane and other factors. A T7 system, au contraire, has a preset torque curve and adapts boost level, ignition etc depending on ambient temp, octane, altitude etc in order to achieve that preset torque.
This is, as far as I know, the only engine management system that works this way.
The difference, of course, is that a 9-5 will have the same performance regardless of altitude, ambient temp etc., whereas we 9K afficionados have to venture out into the dark, gloomy, cold and humid night to have some serious balls to the wall performance...
OK?
