I don't own an Aero (darn it) but for sure it doesn't have the "same" 2.3L engine as the LPT 9-5. The two cars are very, very different.
First things first, there's quite literally no turbo lag with the LPT 2.3. Peak torque is reached very low on the powerband, and the turbo itself is so tiny that it spins up very rapidly. With the V6 or the LPT4 auto, there's just no way to know you're driving a turbocharged engine. I'm not sure what you were experiencing, but it has to be the product of the engine management system (or maybe the TCS) and not actual turbo lag.
The Aero engine is basically the same as the Viggen's (but evidently less torque limited in the first gears). Is your 9-3 the 200hp HOT engine or the 185 hp version? I'd guess that the Aero should feel similar, but with more low-end grunt because of the increased displacement.
I'll predict that once you've driven the Aero you'll be a member of this board within a week :-)
Happy testing,
