2 to 3 years a battery is real economical and I consider that very lucky. Mine go south slightly over a year. I was told that the heat in the engine compartment is probably hard on the battery. The tell tale sign of the battery getting weaker include longer time to crank and start the engine, unable to open door though unlocked and the warning lights in the instrument panel take a while to go off after starting the car etc.
