I do... lived in New England all my life

However, I have run 4 snow tires in winter for almost 30 years on VWs, Volvos and Saabs. I'm 25 mins from a chairlift and always go on snow days.
But when driving a car with snows only on the front I have not experienced much in the way of extreme rear skids folks here are referring to. Sure, I've had back ends get a little loose, but nothing crazy unless I was going too fast anyway. And I'm not a pokey snow driver. I left foot brake and deliberately try to get the back end out.. I like to get the car loose.
So OK... if someone with snows only on the front goes into a corner too quickly, lets off the gas or nails the brakes in a panic the back end can (will) come around. But this doesn't mean that a FWD car should have snows only on the rear, as I've heard a tire salesman tell someone.
I firmly belive in snows all around on any car in winter. And the tires with the best tread should be on the front.
