The driver in front of me has the back end pass the front end on a curve in a snowstorm. Has snow tires in the rear only on a front wheel drive car.
I stopped to help this person and found that out. They STILL insisted that the snows go on the rear because that's what their father did.
I saw the same thing in the rain with somebody who put new tires on the back instead of the front.
There's a clincher here in that once a little braking is applied the front will get more traction but braking just makes the rear worse.
ps. You comment about hydroplaning. If the tires are so worn that they will hydroplane at typical speeds, then they need FOUR new tires.
