It is lots of posts about the short belt if you use the search bar.
I don't know the exact reason why Saab did it on the 9-5 but it could be related to that the 9-3 model has been equipped with the short belt from factory.
And the NG900 model has been updated to short belt by many but not by Saab.
The middle lower pulley is removed and the belt is run straight from the upper ribbed pulley straight over to the power steering pulley. Other than that, the belt is routed exactly as it was before.
It is also several posts about extra vibrations after the short belt has been installed and I have stopped installing the short belt due to that problem and I'm back to using the long belt that I buy from other sources than Saab.
It is much easier to install the short belt and skip the middle/lower idler pulley so I wish it was working better then it does.
