The fact that you've posted on the wrong bulleting board aside...
Would you be better served trading a little reliability for some safety, Swedish style and turbo fun? I mean what's your motivation?
The same things have been said about many fine European automobiles Have you owned or are you attracted to other European makes?
What you've said is simply restating the obvious, so how is the Saab landscape where you live? Are you near SWEDECAR here in So Cal, our helpfult Saabnet member of the year? What's the avalibility of a good Saab independent (non-dealer) in your area? You're considering a car that's outa' warranty you'll want to avoid dealer pricing and attitudes. Or do you take all of your cars to the the dealer forever? There's no right answer, though it does depend to a great degree on your economics.
As far as Saabs go the 9-5's do gosh darn well in reliability surveys that normally favor Japanese cars. And a 2002 9-5 Arc is a gosh darn good Saab with cool (couldn't resist) seats, great tunes, wood, leather and all the toys, really zippy too.
And I bet your wondering why it's so affordable?
