...in fact, in some ways I like the dealer better than the car.

I bought my first Saab in 1997 after my 1982 Mercedes finally gave up the ghost, and have bought 3 more since.

They were the first ones to suggest I call Saab USA about getting after-warranty repairs covered, and have been right up front with me whenever my cars needed repairs. They pick up the car at my office, leave me a loaner, and return my car cleaned and repaired right the first time.

I do a lot of the simple stuff myself (oil, filters, brakes, tire rotation), but have them to the major services so that a more objective set of eyes take a look at things I may have missed. There have been times when we've had our differences, but in every case they have worked with me (before the repairs were performed) and I've been happy with the results.

They make sure that I have the latest software updates, and if I need something really simple, they may not even charge me.

Contrast that to the time when I was in Princeton, NJ, and my catalytic converter died. That dealer charged me ~ $150 just to hook up the scanner and read the CEL code (this was before I learned that AutoZone would do the same thing for free...) They then quoted ~ $1800 for the repairs and their attitude was take it or leave it. While standing at their service center, I called my dealer who said said call Saab (and gave me the number and some suggested points I should make during my conversation). Princeton service dude said it would do no good (and said it with a major attitude). But within a short time he was proven wrong when Saab agreed to pay for 1/2 the cost.

My dealer? Cold Brook Saab, in Skowhegan, ME. The owner is often there and always accessible, as is the General Manager.

Great folks. Highly recommended.

JHMO, YMMV, blah, blah, blah.
