The V-6 *must* have had its timing belt changed, and *should* have had both ignition cassettes changed to the newer revision. A broken timing belt will destroy the engine. A failed ignition cassette will at best leave you stranded, and at worst burn up the catalytic converter while leaving you stranded. Since it's coming from a dealer, I would insist that both of the above be done as "part of the deal." If the dealer refuses one or both, you need to add those repairs to the price quoted and decide if you can still afford it. They are pretty much necessary.
If the timing belt has not been done yet, offer to pay on your own ticket the extra cost for all new pulleys, water pump, and thermostat, plus whatever seals are staring one in the face when the timing cover is off. Replacing the timing belt covers most of the labor of replacing these parts.
The 2001 has had its ignition cassette recalled, but the 2003 V-6 has not.
The later V-6 has slightly better brakes (vented rears). The earlier Aero lacks the sport seats of later Aero models (and all V-6 models). The Later V-6 features the newer 5-speed a/t, while the earlier Aero has just the 4 speed a/t.
