Given the same choice you have, I chose the V6 a few years back. I love mine, by far the best car I've ever owen. I was going to go with the Aero until I test drove it. The Aero has a rumble to it at idle that you'll either love or hate. I didn't like the rumble, by comparison the V6 sounds more refined. The Aero is the faster of the two and should get better gas mileage, but the V6 has plenty of power.
Regarding maintenance, I've seen more than one person comment on this board over the years that the V6's have had less warranty service required of them than the 4 cylindar 9-5's.
Regardless of who's selling the car I'd have it independently inspected by a Saab dealer or a mechanic who knows Saab's. Note that regardless of your choice, these cars require proactive maintenance. I'd also consider getting an extended warranty, there are some good ones that sell off the web.
