I'm considering a 99 9-5 for my daughter who's away at school in FL. The car is here in VA and I'll be looking at it more closely today. It's a one-owner car that's been in this area since purchase and full service records are available from the local dealer. 4 cylinder with just under 60K. Price is $6K with some room to work down a little I'd expect.

My main question is this... While there's a lot to like about the Saab's and this one seems like a reasonble bet as these things go, I'm wondering whether the 9-5 is a good fit for girl who has no ability to do any work on the car herself? I've been through the board here and it looks like they're worth considering but they do appear to have some standard issues that need to be addressed on a fairly frequent basis. She will have a local dealer there, but I'm really not wanting to be helping too much to put his kids through school too.

I can do pretty much anything as far as maintenance and repairs and I'm used to having to deal with a certain amount of problems that come with the territory and if it were for me or if she were here, then I'd be a lot more comfortable. It's her money that she's saved and she really likes the car (and I do too), but I don't want to see her buy something that she'll be having to drop a bunch of money into on a regular basis. Along the lines of my BMW... great car, but I wouldn't want her to buy one. Just too much little and some bigger stuff to keep up with if you don't do it yourself.

So what do you Saab guys think? Reasonable or not the best choice?
