Owning a Saab is something of an avocation in itself. A college student in Florida prolly will have plenty on her plate, and needs a transportation appliance rather than another avocation. So, reluctantly, I side with the Honda, Toyota, Subaru crowd. I'm also being consistent. We bought our daughter-the-college-student a Honda for precisely the reasons given by other posters. Maybe you could buy the Saab for around $4K.
