same thing happened to my daughter soon after she got her license and started driving to school (although it was not a saab). Scared me to death of course, rushed to get her ... turns out she had run out of gas! we still laugh about that.
(usually when you run out of gas the car can be restarted after sitting a moment or two ... won't run for long though)
do you know for a fact that the engine continued to run after this happened? I suspect not.
consider:
- was he out of gas?
- baffle/fuel pump issue causing the engine to be out of gas even though there is gas in the car?
- did he (or a passenger) knock the key to "off" (easily done in a 9-5)
- serp belt/idler still intact?
- car stalled for some other reason (TB, IDM, etc)
a lot of strange things happen when kids start driving to school!
