I took the wheel off, disassembled the caliper, wiggled the pads around, seated them, and put it all back together. I got the retainer clip back on the first try! I could see the grooves in the pads from the rotors. Took it out, stopped at the end of the driveway... thunk thunk thunk thunk. So I continued around the block and went down the road a couple over from mine. It's a steep one. Got to about 35 and firmly sank my foot onto the pedal. Thunk thunk thunk... I did this a couple times and the thunking got much quieter. Almost not noticeable. Sooo I think Anders was right. Vinyl record syndrome. Thankfully it seems to be wearing off faster than I thought it might. I will definitely keep you all updated. I have lots of driving to do tomorrow so hopefully they'll be smoothed out. I don't want to do lots of crazy stopping though; what's the break-in rule with these puppies? Anyway, I have a big sense of relief for now. Thanks for all your help!
