Don't put Brembo on such a high pedestal. They are good rotors but they are only as good as Italy (or Mexico, Brazil or China or what the flavor of the day is) can produce for every given day.
When you have bought as many as I have for all different Saab's and Volvo's year and model and seen that some come polished by a grinding machine and others come with a fine lathe machined surfaced and some come with a course lathe machined surfaced, you know that it is no set standard from the mothership but each manufacturing plant have their own rules.
So the ones that look suspicious, I just set them up in my brake lathe and give them a superficial scrape to cut down the ridges.
Other times when I get nailed by already have installed them, I get them off the car and give them a light scrape with the lathe and that's it.
It happens maybe 5% of the times but since I catch the ones looking bad before installing them it isn't that bad.
