I would not let them have the car towed until they have settled with you, it's still your car. You may want to have the car towed to your house though, the insurance company should cover towing costs, but they might refuse to cover storage fees after a certain number of days.(You will probably have to pay it up front, then send a copy of the bill to the insurance company to get reimbursed.) As far as getting what you deserve for the car, I would recommend that you do some research(craigslist etc.) to find out what similar cars are selling for. It might also be helpful for you to get the NADA and Red Book values. Make sure any cars they compare yours to are actually comparable. You should expect to do some negotiating. If you can afford to wait, dont be afraid to refuse their offers until they give you something fair. I had a terrible experience a couple months ago after getting hit by another car in my 9000 Aero. The first offer they gave me was for 750 dollars, the paperwork they sent me with two comps listed 9000 CS models, it took me over a month to settle. I was lucky enough to have another saab enthusiast in the insurance business give me some pointers. Some things that really helped were to ask to speak with a supervisor, and to tell them you would be filing a complaint with (in my case) the CT board of insurance. They also dont seem to like the possibility of going to court to settle. Good luck with this.
