I know you don't live in Europe, but that doesn't matter. Take
Ericsson US as an example, they sell (online from their US website)
the HCA-10 Advanced Vehicle Handsfree for the T28z and T28world phones.
This is exactly the same HCA-10 as Ericsson sells in Europe for T28s,
T28world, and R320s. This handsfree just attaches to the 9-5, I know
because I use it myself.
You should thank Saab Cars USA, Inc. for their Nokia-only info.
Don't blame the Saab over here when the incompetence clearly is
on the US side. Please note that everybody in the US is obviously not
incompetent, quite a number of people on this board didn't listen to
Saab Cars USA and have successfully added non-Nokia handsfree systems
to their 9-5.
The interface between the phone handsfree and the 9-5 audio system
is very simple:
Two wires replace the speaker.
Two wires replace the microphone.
One wire for +12V.
One wire for ground.
One wire for mute, connect to ground by handsfree to mute.
Can it be made any simpler?
I can not believe that it can be that hard to find handsfree
units on the US market that can be used in the 9-5 (there are
at least one from Ericsson).
