I own an '03 9-5 Aero wgn that just registered 170k miles on the odometer. I am the original owner and people I come across often say how they hear Saab is unreliable. What are folks take on this? I have been happy with my Saab - in that it is a fun car to drive, great performance and reliable as well, along with looking really cool.
I've always filled with Synthetic engine oil every 5k, drained and filled transmission fluid twice in it's lifetime, drained/filled coolant once. I've replaced rear shocks, bushings recently and still on orig front struts. The major unexpected items needing repair were:
-DIC failure at around 70k
-Coolant bypass valve failure at 120k (leaking again so another replacement)
-Fuel pump failure at 140k
-Oil pan leaking (gonna dump and reseal soon)
That's it. I think I can say it has been reliable and the above items are OK with me. I did run the car often with low fuel so not surprised about the fuel pump failure. DIC was a surprise. Oil pan leakage is acceptable too given the miles and years on car, dropping the pan and looking inside will be interesting.
So what has been you experience with reliability on yours?
