Broken 9-5 on the road...(not mine) Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 28 Oct 2011 08:33:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I was driving home when I got stopped by a light about a mile from my house and noticed Police Flashers along the shoulder of the oncoming lane. I immediately thought someone got nabbed for speeding because while it is a mixed residential/commercial 5-lane road posted at 45 MPH some drivers go 70 MPH.
The light changes, I advance, and I see a recent OG 9-5 (2007-2009) in the northbound bike lane missing its left side front wheel. The wheel is laying on the grassy shoulder just in front of the car and the drivers side front fender is torn outward.
The Police were already on the scene and I was traveling in the opposite direction so I didn't stop, but it appeared the driver's side front wheel had severed from the car and tore the fender outward in its departure.
Five failed wheel bolts? Fractured wheel center? What else could cause this?
