it's funny, my dad's indy says the same thing - need to re-torque after a driving for a while... our indy had a different (opposite) story, but I think they tend to overtighten them... I often have to use a *long* breaker bar to remove wheels if I don't torque them myself... I've never had an issue with bolts loosening (on steel or alloy wheels), though I probably overtorque 10% or so... I can always crack mine with <2' of breaker bar (and I now usually proactively re-torque the bolts when someone else changes my wheels)...
There was a tsb issued from Saab not to use steel wheels, that corrosion could then cause issues later (though everybody does this anyway)... I broke down + got (minty fresh) steel wheels for this winter... hope it doesn't cause me grief, but was hard to find used 16" alloys + decided not to get 17" winter rubber for my second set of 17" rims...
