Obviously my opinion will be heavily biased, but my decision process matched yours exactly. The "Dame Edna" look has grown on me during the past 6 years although it looks better to me in some colors than others, and I actually like the faux metallic finish of the Aero dash. The centersatck of dash controls is different and possibly easier to use as a result, the remainder of the dash (one of the 9-5's strengths) is identical.
See a string of postings below regarding what maintenance items we need to do (assuming you spring for the car) shortly after purchase.
