roads here in south Florida are kind to suspensions, rougher on the tire surfaces though with the grittier materials in the asphalt. but very kind to suspensions and no rusting. woohoo! I do live on the coast but 4-5 miles in from the actual ocean so far enough not to get any ocean salt issues. only during a hurricane.
I have needed the upper hub bushings 100k ago but have never had tire wear or alignment issues so I have let them go. plenty of other items on a Saab to have to spend $ on as you all know. But now I have a cupped tire that was on the LH rear (now on front so can hear it so that got my attention) so time to start doing some things. I replaced the shocks and struts about 25k ago and now wish I had replaced the springs at the same time. I know all about the spacers but again have had no tire wear or alignment issues until just now. so, I will do the hub and trailing arm bushings now and check the alignment. then next address the springs. the LH rear is def about 1/2" lower than the RH rear from my rough measurements.
With my 1999 9-5SE sedan 2.3lpt at 190k, I am not trying to make this a performance car so much as just nice comfy pleasurable commuter car that was paid for 12 years ago. My paint, interior and all is still extremely nice so that it is plesurable to drive every day. I sold my '87 911 Cab years ago with an expanding young family but will likely within the next few years try to get something else like that for performance driving and occasional track day. also want my boys to learn to drive on a manual like I did in my dad's 1972 Super Beetle! my oldest is 10 so I got about 5 years to get something. just sharing.
